After my wife sadly lost her parents a year and a half ago, we inherited their elderly cat “Little Orphan Annie,” who had mobility challenges due to her age that made it safer for her to live in my wife’s office as an appartment. Given the messes inherent with that, it didn’t make sense to replace the aging carpet in that room. When Annie passed away this fall, I decided to move forward with replacing both the flooring in the office and the flooring in the guest bedroom, which are connected to each other by a Jack and Jill bathroom. We picked out a warm, light colored vinyl plank that looks like wood but is more durable.

It was a pretty straightforward process; first, I had to clear out all of the furniture and decor from the rooms:

After that, the flooring went in pretty quickly and I was able to start moving the furniture back into place.

I was very happy with the result! The only remaining carpet in the house now is in my office, which I plan on replacing with the same product sometime in 2026.
