Last summer I was kept very busy clearing trees, repairing railing, and cleaning up the beach at the lake house after a number of storms the previous winter and during the summer itself caused a ton of damage. I was pretty happy with what I was able to do myself, but this year it’s time to call in the big guns. I’m bringing in a barge service to fully clean up the beach, dredge the water in front of the beach to clear downed trees, and I’m also bringing in a builder to help fully repair the last flight of stairs. Before that happens, I needed to do some prep work by removing the last few trees that I couldn’t get to last summer once all the underbrush had grown in.

After that, it was time to grab a cocktail at Lakeside Bar on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and nurse a smashed finger from the logging festivities earlier:

I came back the following day and did the remaining cleanup, clearing out some small trees from the front yard and chopping down the trunks from the previous day down to the stumps.

Now all that’s left is to wait for the weather to get a little bit warmer. The barge service should come in mid April, and the steps will be done by early July. Bring on summer!
