After the success of the first crown molding project at the beginning of the year, I was excited to do more. The next target was the upstairs hallway, the guest bedroom, my wife’s office, the bathroom between those two rooms, and the master bedroom. The work is still in progress, but the results so far … Continue reading Upstairs Crown Molding
This spring, I have a variety of projects on deck. I’m having more crown molding installed at the house in Verona. The first crown molding project went so well, I’m now expanding the scope to all of the rooms upstairs, which I think will look excellent. Next, I’m going to have the lake house power … Continue reading Upcoming Spring Projects
One of my in-between-project projects was to reorganize my tools, which had gotten out of control due to all of the projects split between the two houses. I setup a staging ground in the lake house, and piled all of the tools and building supplies into categories before organizing them. After that was done, … Continue reading Tool Reorganization
In the midst of all of my larger projects, I always maintain a list on Basecamp of smaller projects that need doing at both the main house and the lake house. Sometimes I find myself with a weekend that, due to other plans or weather, doesn’t allow me to work on a big project. When … Continue reading Minor Spring Projects
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything, not due to lack of projects but due to a very busy spring. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be catching up on writing about my spring projects. One of the larger ones was remodeling the smaller of the two master suite walk-in closets to be a … Continue reading Powder Room Remodel

Here is a list of what I’ve done so far: Living Room Rug Replace Kitchen Desk Chair Organize … Continue reading Minor Projects
This past weekend, I took delivery of the lake house bar, and got it into the house through a ton of snow, which took some creative hauling and essentially turned the bar (in a plastic-wrapped box) into a sled. I unpacked it, built it, and it fit perfectly in the downstairs kitchen, along with some … Continue reading Lake House Bar: Complete
This past weekend, I fully finished the lake house bathroom! I installed the shower doors, lighting, and finished some final clean up. The shower door was pretty quick to install, and turned out really well. The before and after is pretty striking. I’m very proud of how this turned out! Continue reading Lake House Bathroom Before and After
At the lake house, we have a small stand-up bar on the top floor near the kitchen, but I wanted to build a more traditional bar downstairs. The basement of the lake house already has Badger-esque cabinetry, with wood reminiscent of the Rathskeller at UW’s Memorial Union, and Badger red counter tops. Now that the … Continue reading Lake House Bar
