Home Improvement Projects at a Country Home in Verona, WI
Since it is the week of Black Friday, I’ve taken advantage of some insane promotional deals at Best Buy to replace all of the appliances at the lake house, in both kitchens. Essentially, best buy has a 40% off promo going for most appliances, with the added kicker that you get $50 gift cards for … Continue reading So Many Appliances
In addition to ripping apart and remodeling the master bathroom at the lake house, I’m also replacing all of the kitchen appliances this winter. The first one to be replaced is the refrigerator; the old one is from the early 90’s and is very dated. I am replacing everything with stainless steel, and went with … Continue reading Lake House Kitchen Remodel
After finishing the wardrobe assembly, there were a few things left to do. I hung the TV on the wall and used a cable tube to hide the wires. I also bought a new chair, ottoman, and floor lamp for the sitting area. Finally, I installed LED puck lighting on the ceiling of each wardrobe … Continue reading Closet Remodel Done
Over the last several weeks, I’ve assembled the IKEA wardrobes and removed the old closet hardware. All that is left is hanging the TV and replacing the chair in the sitting area, and removing some old things that will no longer have a place in the new closet. Here are the fully assembled wardrobes, including … Continue reading Closet Remodel Progress
Over Labor Day Weekend, my wife and I took advantage of some less than ideal weather to drive to the IKEA in Oak Creek, just south of Milwaukee. We took a trailer, and filled it with 12 Pax Wardrobe Frames and various shelves and accessories. I managed to get the whole wardrobe package for the … Continue reading IKEA Run
Another remodeling project I plan on doing this fall is a remodel of the master closet at the main house. We’re blessed with a very large master closet (350 square feet or so), but it could be a lot better. I plan on installing floor to ceiling wardrobe style shelves and clothing racks, along with … Continue reading Master Closet Remodel
One of my projects for fall/winter is going to be remodeling the master bathroom at the lake house. Currently, it is a model of 70’s-tastic style. I plan on largely gutting it, and putting in something that fits the mid century modern style of the house but is significantly nicer and more luxurious. Here is … Continue reading Lake House Bathroom Remodel
My office on the top floor of the house has always served as more of a sports memorabilia den than anything, and despite having an almost 400 square foot closet my collection of kits and jerseys and scarves was outgrowing its space, so I turned my office closet into a kit display! Continue reading Office Closet
After a long saga of dealing with Home Depot and Crew2, the guest house bathroom flooring is in and the project is complete. I chose to have the tile professionally installed, floor tile is one of those things where absolute precision is important and typically it is pretty inexpensive to have done. When I built … Continue reading Guest House Bathroom Finished
Back in January, I bought a chandelier on Royal Street in New Orleans. It was a late nineteenth century wrought iron piece that was perfect for the entryway of the lake house. It took me awhile to finally hang it, which I did this weekend. Because the ceiling in the entryway is angled and covered … Continue reading Lake House Chandelier Installed
