Along with my usual spring landscaping tasks, another thing I have to do every spring is open up the lake house, put the boat in the water, and set up the slip. This year was no different; I’d already done a lot of prep work at the lake house earlier in the year to remove trees in preparation for upcoming stair reconstruction and beach restoration projects. At the house itself, there wasn’t a whole lot to do aside from spraying ground-clearing weed killer and going to town on the weeds with a weed whacker.

Setting up the boat and the slip was a little bit more of an adventure this year, since the boat’s batter had died. Thankfully, by friend Bret is a master mechanic and was able to get everything back up and running:

After that, we were able to get a new canopy installed in the boat lift, and the boat was ready to go for summer.

I’m looking forward to another awesome summer on the water!
